I had an excellent experience here today, 09/23/2019. This place came highly recommended by a co worker and I was told to get the shrimp burrito and add carne asada. The shrimp burrito is about $8 and some change and with the add Carne Asada it was under $12.25. So worth it because it's either a meal for 2 when split in half, a meal for now and leftovers later or for the gordita in me it could have been a mea for the NOW!!!!! but it was sooooo seasoned, flavorful, packed with shrimp, carne asada, rice, cheese, pico and the table cream and game out hot to the touch because it was that fresh- I should have let it rest before digging in but couldn't wait. The red hot sauce has some heat in it so use with caution ... the green was not as potent as the red but still delicious.

The staff was super friendly, food is prepared in a reasonable time, the establishment was pretty cleaned and the customers were in and out.

I read others reviews and saw they had some negative experiences, but it's ones willing to stop by I don't think the quality and love that they put in the food would go unnoticed or be compromised by anything less than. This is a legit taco shop/Mexican restaurant. Might not be the 5 star dining experience, but don't be fooled the foods on point, the staff have heart and this is a local establishment that's holds its own. They don't look to be deprived of business and it looks like a staple restaurant within the community. If willing to make as many trips this way because I don't get this kind of authenticity with the restaurants in the Rancho San Diego area!!!!

I'll be back and next time grabbing my coworker a burrito to show appreciation for always saying great things about this establishment, which he's right, it didn't disappoint!

"Two chicken taco, side o' bean, no cheese on the bean"

Roberto's chicken tacos from this location are the best crispy chicken tacos I have ever experienced. I've searched extensively for a match, or one better, but have yet to find it. Although the chicken taco alone justifies a 5-star rating for this establishment, I deduct one star from over-all rating because they still use polystyrene containers. Roberto's- switch to paper... you can do it!

The second best machaca in San Diego..

Roberto's is the Oro standard of taco shops in San Diego. In many ways it's just like all the others, but it's their long proven track record of better quality ingredients that wins the title for me. If anyone has ever been food poisoned at an off-brand taco shop you know the value of reliable mexican food quality.

Machaca Burrito - loaded with quality shredded beef and full of green peppers and onions + egg. This makes for a great meal.

Better yet, if you're counting carb just slice open the burrito and just eat the insides (meat, veg, egg). Very satisfying.

Tip - The best machaca in San Diego is from El Indio...

One of San Diego's best taco shops, my Latino inspired YELPers, capsaicin cuties, try their famous rolled tacos with all or minimal toppings. 5iinco lived them (5) w/guacamole, cheese--period. The creative chef made a custom chorizo-salsa Fresca-egg torta, xtra picante ; it was sabroso/delish! Remember their fresh hot sauces-green & red. I'm getting hungry again...

So good! I usually get the veggie burrito, but I've had other things too. I like the red hot sauce put inside the burrito and they're more than happy to do so. The people are nice and the service is quick!
